Taylor Swift and Brandon Urie’s song “ME!” has made history by breaking both YouTube and Vevo’s 24-hour streaming records. The track was released on Friday, April 26, along with a vibrant music video that Swift co-directed with David Meyers, a fellow Grammy winner. Swift, a Grammy-winning pop star, has once again proven her dominance in the music industry with the success of her latest music video for “ME!” featuring Brendon Urie of Panic! At The Disco. The video has now set a new record as the fastest to reach 100 million views on Vevo.
Vevo recently announced through a press release that a new music video reached 100 million views in just 79 hours after its release on Friday, April 26th. This video has now surpassed Ariana Grande’s “thank u, next,” which achieved the same milestone in less than four days after its debut on November 30, 2018. Prior to this, Taylor Swift’s “Look What You Made Me Do” held the top spot with its release back in 2017.
The music video for “ME!” set a new record on Vevo by receiving 65.2 million views within the first 24 hours of its release. This achievement not only secured Taylor Swift the top spot on YouTube by a solo artist and a female artist, but also marked a significant milestone for her. As of now, just 6 days after its debut, the video has garnered an impressive 126.9 million views.
The vibrant and cheerful music video has generated a lot of enthusiasm among Swifties, not only for its happy scenes but also for the hidden surprises and Easter eggs scattered throughout. Apart from the cute kitten gifted by Urie in the video becoming her new pet, Taylor also cleverly concealed the title of the album and the next single within the video, teasing fans with hints on Twitter the next day.
The video was helmed by Swift and award-winning music video director Dave Meyers, recognized for his visually captivating work on music videos such as Travis Scott and Drake’s “Sicko Mode,” Grande’s “God is a woman,” and Kendrick Lamar’s “HUMBLE.” Their collaboration on this project even earned them a prestigious GRAMMY for Best Music Video at the 60th GRAMMY Awards.
