Shakira is set to receive the Michael Jackson Video Vanguard Award during the upcoming 2023 MTV Video Music Awards in September, joining the ranks of other prestigious honorees. The global superstar will become the first South American artist to receive the award, which recognizes her musical prowess and trailblazing influence on women around the world. Shakira will also perform on the VMAs stage for the first time in 17 years, alongside performers such as Demi Lovato, Karol G, Måneskin, and Stray Kids. The awards show will be broadcast live on MTV and streamed on Paramount+.
